What happened to Mamie Laverock?

According to a GoFundMe set up by her parents, Nicole and Rob Compton, Laverock suffered an undisclosed “medical emergency” on May 11 and was rushed to a hospital in Winnipeg, Canada. She was then transferred to a hospital in Vancouver, where she began showing “signs of improvement.” Two weeks later, her health took a turn for the worse when she fell five stories from a balcony walkway and sustained life-threatening injuries.

“We are deeply saddened to report that on May 26th, Mamie, who has been in intensive treatment for the past two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories,” an update to the GoFundMe read. “She sustained life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support. We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”

Following the incident, Erin Krakow shared a link to the fundraiser, which has now raised over 12,000 CAD, on her Instagram. “I just donated. If you have the means to do so, I hope you will too. Link in bio,” the show’s star wrote. Several other WCTH cast members showed their support for the 19-year-old actress and her family as well.

“Please donate and share if you can. Mamie and her family need our support. Link in bio. Thank you,” Loretta Walsh, who plays Florence Blakely, wrote on Instagram. Laverock’s on-screen mom, Johannah Newmarch, shared a supportive message on X (Formerly Twitter), writing: “I love this family, my heart is broken. A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this #hearties.”

Laverock recurred on the first two seasons of the Western drama when she was just 9 years old. For her portrayal of Rosaleen Sullivan, she earned the Young Artists Award for best performance in a TV series in 2015. She returned to the show in 2023 for a short guest starring role in Season 10. Prior to WCTH, Laverock landed her first professional role in the 2012 film This Means War. She was 6 years old at the time, and although her scene was cut, she told Ruth Hill’s blogMedia from the Heart that the experience was “unbelievable.” Of working with industry icons like Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, she recalled: “One of the memories I have from being a part of this movie was when Chris Pine was joking around on set and he asked me to punch Reese Witherspoon as a joke. Even back then, I had a good sense of humor, and I said, ‘No, I like her!’ And I turned around and hugged her!”

The young actress’ other credits include Hallmark’s Wedding of Dreams, the 2017 horror film The Hollow Child,Netflix’sA Series of Unfortunate Events and the 2020 Lifetime movieSpotlight on Christmas.
