The Seminoles defeated the UConn Huskies 10-8 in 12 innings Saturday in Game 2 of the NCAA Tournament's Tallahassee Super Regional to advance to the College World Series.
FSU bested UConn with a James Tibbs III home run, his third of the game, which also scored Max Williams to take the 10-8 advantage at the top of the 12th inning.
The Seminoles reaching the College World Series is their 24th appearance in program history and first time going since 2019.
FSU awaits the winner of NCAA Super Regional series between Tennessee and Evansville, which is tied at 1-1 after the Purple Aces defeated the Volunteers 10-8 Saturday. Tennessee and Evansville will meet again Sunday to decide the series winner.

He homered to right field and scored Max Williams to take a 10-8 lead for the Seminoles over the UConn Huskies at the top of the twelfth inning.
Tibbs is the first Seminole to hit three home runs in a single game since Stephen Cardullo in 2010.

Tibbs has 27 homeruns this season, passing Buster Posey and Chris Cawthon for the sixth-most in program history. Tibbs is tied with Mike Fuentes.
