Volume 42 of My Hero Academia is set to release in Japan on December 4, 2024, and the cover art for the final volume has brought the series full circle in the most beautiful way possible. The final cover pays direct homage to the cover of the series' very first volume, with Deku taking All Might's place smiling proudly in the background while the young and hopeful-looking Dai takes the place of young Deku. All of Class 1-A are also featured in the background in place of the pro-heroes, serving as a touching reminder of just how far both Deku and Class 1-A have come over the course of My Hero Academia's story.

Visually, this is represented by Deku taking up All Might's spot with the same assuring smile and confident stance. Deku also sports the same All Might t-shirt given to him by a civilian during the final battle, symbolizing how Deku came to carry the hopes and dreams of those around him in the epilogue, true to the name of his quirk.

That said, arguably the best part of the final cover is its inclusion of Dai, the young aspiring hero introduced in the final chapter who takes up Deku's spot in the new cover illustration. My Hero Academia's finale saw Deku assure Dai that he too could be a hero regardless of his quirk just like All Might had assured him in chapter 1. The final cover beautifully represents this full circle moment as well as how Deku has become an inspiration to others, just like All Might was to him at the start of the series.

Volume 42 will compile chapters 423 to 430 covering the conclusion of the epic battle against Shigaraki and All For One, as well as the entirety of the epilogue, which is fittingly represented by the final cover art. Nonetheless as sad as fans may be to see the series go, for now, fans can only hope that Kohei Horikoshi will soon return with a new manga just as spectacular.
