The Underdark is a dangerous part of Baldur's Gate 3 Act 1. It is higher level than what is allowed in Early Access, so EA players especially have a hard time going through it for the first time. There are multiple entrances into this malicious biome, and most of them are not particularly easy to find.

Even the Druid master Halsin warns the player of the dangers that lurk in the Underdark. One thing is for certain, you should be as leveled up and prepared as possible before entering this location.
5 The Underdark Overview
You should be around Level 5 when entering The Underdark. It is its own huge map underneath your current map. There are tons of secrets, traps, and enemies you haven't seen before. The main enemy you will run into is a Minotaur.
Minotaurs are huge brutes that use pure Strength attacks against you. You will want to use distance against them. The Underdark is, as it states, dark. There are glowing mushrooms, but using a character with Darkvision may help you in your adventures. Elves, Gnomes, and Tieflings have Darkvision.
4 Blighted Village Well
This is the easiest location to find. Chances are you have already passed through the Blighted Village. The village is full of Goblins, but if you get on their good side they will not attack you. Even if you destroy the Goblin Camp and kill those tormenting the Gnome on the windmill, the Goblins around the village will not aggro against you.

The well in the middle of the village will lead you to the Whispering Depths. While this location is the easiest to get to, you will have to pass a boss, the Phase Spider Matriarch, in order to continue through to The Underdark. You can cast Feather Fall on your party to fall down the large pit where the boss is, where you will enter The Underdark.
3 Zhentarim Hideout Elevator
The Zhentarim Hideout is located in The Risen Roads. The Risen Roads is North of the Blighted Village. North of the village, you can use Jump to jump across the broken stone bridge. By heading left from this location, you should eventually find Waukeen's Rest.
Waukeen's Rest is on fire, you can use Water to pass the fiery ground beneath the arch to the left. Past this archway is where you can find the entrance to the Zhentarim Hideout. There is a small cabin with crates blocking the entrance. Move or break the crates to meet a character on guard. Past him is a trapdoor entrance.
Inside this entrance, you must interact with a bookshelf to reveal the entrance to the hideout. Inside the Zhentarim Hideout, go all the way to the back of the cave. There will be a corner with a wolf. Behind the wolf is an illusionary wall. You have to either sneak past the wolf or kill everyone in the cave to be able to gain entrance through that wall.
The wall will lead to an elevator that your Rogue can unlock to use. This will take you to The Underdark.
2 Defiled Temple
The Defiled Temple is located within the Goblin Camp, behind locked doors. You can access this area by defeating the Goblins, sneaking past people, or by getting imprisoned by Priestess True Soul Gut. Going deeper into the Priestess' quarters will lead you to the Defiled Temple.
There is a moon puzzle on the floor that you need to successfully complete in order to unlock the entrance to The Underdark. Upon completion of the puzzle, the wall adjacent will reveal a pathway down to a ladder. This ladder will lead to a Selune Outpost in The Underdark.
1 Overgrown Tunnel Portal
This is the hardest location. It is within the Hag's lair. When you are on your way to save Mayrina from the Hag, you will have to pass an illusionary door and kill some Masked dummies. You will then have to pass by traps and clouds of poisonous gas. By the very first cloud of gas, use your camera to find another illusionary door at the side of the cave wall.
You can use Jump to access this area. You need to wear one of the Whispering Masks in order to get through this door. It is best to kill the Hag before doing this, since applying a Whispering Mask will grant her control of you and force you to attack your team to the death.
