Nope. But if you haven't selected a seat yet, then you might get assigned one for free. My sister refuses to pay for seat selection and just got a preferred seat (15F) yesterday LAX-YVR, the MAX has 34" seat pitch if you're forward of the exit row.

But given that you're going to be in one of the widebodies, and not a MAX (where they're a third of the economy seats), there's very few preferred seats, so your chances are super small.

Usually airlines will have "week-long" Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, which are very underwhelming.

The reason I asked: For example, Hong Kong allows self-administered rapid tests and require passengers to upload the results to their health declaration portal.

However, I heard that Air Canada still asked for 'certified' rapid test results (like from SDM) for flights to Hong Kong. Cathay Pacific does not do that.

I had one insist that I was in their seat despite trying to explain to them that seat “C” wasn’t a window seat. Zone 2 now usually slows down the entire boarding process.

I would bring proof of vaccination regardless of my online check-in’s success.

If, at the time of travel, the US still has a vaccination requirement for inbound tourists, you will almost certainly be required to show proof at check-in. Reason being, the airline is responsible for ensuring inbound passengers adhere to entry requirements of the country.

The boarding time is likely the same overall, with more relative time spent in Zone 2 at the expense of later zones. This has been studied before. Despite attempts at making boarding more orderly with many systems (i.e. back to front, window to aisle, etc.), it ultimately makes little meaningful. difference in boarding speed/efficiency.

People are unfortunately too selfish, stupid, and oblivious for any system to work efficiently.

I've already received my boarding pass though. I've gone back to the check in page and don't see anywhere I can upload my documents. As far as I can tell, proof of vaccination is still required to enter the US. Has anyone flown to the US recently and was able to upload proof of vaccination online?

Receiving your boarding pass is irrelevant. For example, many people receive their boarding passes and don't have their passports screened until the gate. Take a look when you wait for your flight, the gate agent will call up several people via last name to the counter for document verification. COVID vaccine verification is no different.

Does your boarding pass show "ADOC" under remarks? If it's still required, you won't be allowed to board, and you will be flagged at the gate.

I haven't flown AC to the US of A recently, so cannot confirm with 100% certainty. Regardless, I don't understand why you care so much. Just bring your vaccination proof on your phone, and show if asked. If not asked, then continue onwards. Unless you're not vaxxed... then that's your problem.

As far as I know, only an attestation at check in is now required, they don't need the documents anymore. I could be wrong as mine are already on file, but I think this is the case.

ATTS means you've completed the attestation. Unfortunately, doesn't tell us anything we don't already know .

ADOC was what was previously used when I flew with them last a few months ago, meaning all documents (passport/NEXUS, etc.) were approved/processed. I did not have to show my proof of vaccination, but had I believe my vaccination document was already saved on file from a previous flight, so much like dolfan, probably not much help unless you fall under the same circ*mstances.

Yeah and when I go to the grocery store, the line i think is shortest ends up being longest, cause the person at the front can't figure out how to pay with their credit or debit card and wants to price match everything.

Update: On the plane now. Confirmed that proof of vaccination is not required for flights to US. Just the attestation at check in

I flew air Canada Vancouver to Seattle in mid September. I made the attestation and proceeding directly to us customs nexus line. I was not asked.

However I flew when vaccines were required to fly domestically or internationally and fly often with air Canada. I believe I uploaded my proof then. I flew to usa from Mexico with united and I uploaded my proof of vax. Went to check in just kuz well it’s Mexico better safe then someone bugging you later.

Def carry proof. If you have an iPhone you can scan your QR code and it will be added to your wallet. Very handy! Not a bad idea to have a paper copy too.
