How to Activate Action Replay Codes

Before you can start changing your game to your heart’s content, you’ll need to know how to actually use the codes we’re supplying for you. These aren’t your dad’s cheats where you can just press a string of buttons to get a result – you’ll have to put in a little bit of work.

To use these cheat codes, you’ll need to input them as Action Replay codes on your emulator or physical device.

Since most gamers are revisiting older Pokemon games through the help of emulators, the process is actually very easy. Almost every emulator comes with built-in cheat software so you don’t have to go digging around on eBay for an Action Replay.

With that taken care of, here’s the actual process in a quick step-by-step guide:

1. Open Emulator
2. Run Pokemon Soul Silver
3. Select ‘Setup Cheat Codes’ in the system settings
4. Create a ‘New Category’ (We like to group ours with the headings you’ll find below)
5. With the category selected, create a ‘New AR Code’
6. Copy one of the codes from our list into the text box that appears on the right
7. Make sure that the codes you want to use are checked
8. Make sure cheat codes are enabled, which is a separate setting

Item Cheats

Battle Cheats

These cheat codes will allow you to become a master of battling pokemon without any real effort. It won’t take you 25 years to become a Champion, like someone we know (cough, cough, Ash Ketchum, cough).

Restore Health Code

This code allows your pokemon to restore health in battle without the need for any medical items like potions or full restores. In order to activate it just press start while in battle and your pokemon’s health will fill up the next time they’re attacked.

Capture Trainer Pokemon Code

One way to end a battle fast is to catch the enemy trainer’s pokemon. With this code, you can become a full-fledged member of Team Rocket and steal any trainer’s pokemon with ease.

Be warned, it will end the battle immediately, so make sure to steal the pokemon you want.

Walk Through Walls Cheat Code

This classic pokemon cheat code allows you to move out of the game’s normal bounds so you can run straight from New Bark Town all the way to Palette Town before you’ve even received your first pokemon.

Be warned, this is the most likely code to cause a glitch, so be sure to save your game before using it. If things start to act weird but the game hasn’t totally stopped, just find a door to walk through and the game should load any missing assets.

Change Character Sprite Code

We’ve saved the best for last. This amazing code allows you to change your overworld sprites and play as a completely different character. Instead of running around as the normal hero of the Johto games, you can transform yourself into just about any other sprite in the game, including gym leaders and pokemon!

This code doesn’t change your in-battle sprite, but that’s fine since the character is only shown for a brief moment.
